AMB&G take 1st Place in Super Regionals!

Avon Marching Black & Gold (AMB&G) took first place this past weekend at the Music for All Bands of America (BOA) Super Regional Championship held at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, November 5, 2011. 31 high school marching bands from Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia performed in preliminary competition. The top 12 scoring bands advanced to the evening finals competition. The final 12, with their scores are as follows:

On Saturday, September 17, the Avon Marching Black & Gold traveled to Plainfield, Indiana to compete in the Plainfield Band Invitational. The band performed their 2011 production “Oddities” and received awards for Best Percussion, Best Auxiliary, Best Music, Best Visual, and Best General Effect. Avon Wins Third National Championship!

The Avon Marching Black & Gold was named the 2010 Bands of America Grand National Champions on Saturday, November 13, at the Bands of America Grand National Championships held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Avon band received first place in Class AAAA at the end of semi-finals with receiving the award for Outstanding General Effect. In finals, the Marching Black & Gold received awards for Outstanding Music Performance as well as Outstanding General Effect and was named National Champion with a score of 97.70. Congrats to ALL Grand National participants on a fantastic weekend!

The Avon Marching Black & Gold defended their 2009 Bands of America Indianapolis Regional Championship by being named the 2010 BOA Indianapolis Regional Champions on Saturday, November 6th at Lucas Oil Stadium. In what has been said to be one of the most competitive regional finals ever, the Avon band earned top awards for Visual Performance and General Effect in finals and earned a first-place score of 95.10. Congratulations to all finalists bands on an outstanding field of performances!

The Avon Marching Black & Gold were announced as ISSMA Class ‘A’ State Champions on Saturday, October 30th at the ISSMA State Marching Band Finals Competition held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This championship marks Avon’s 9th State Championship in the past 10 years (Class ‘B’: 2001, 2002 and Class ‘A’: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010). The 2010 ISSMA Marching Band Regionals competition was held at Center Grove High School on Saturday, October 16. The afternoon and evening were filled with outstanding performances by 15 of the state’s southern bands, and the top 10 scoring bands were announced to move on to ISSMA Semi-State Competition, which will be held at Ben Davis High School on Saturday, October 23. ISSMA District Contest

The Marching Black & Gold traveled to Lawrence Central High School on Saturday, October 2 to compete in the ISSMA District Contest. The rain managed to stay away to allow the band to compete in class ‘A’ where they won awards for Best Music, Best Visual, and Best General Effect. The MB&G was also awarded a gold rating, which allows the band to compete in the ISSMA Regional Competition, held at Center Grove High School on October 16.


Greenwood Invitational

BOA Grand National Results

Congratulations to the Avon Marching Black and Gold for being named the 2009 Bands of America Grand National Champion! The Avon Band was able to accomplish a feat that had not been done since 1991–winning a back-to-back National Championship! Avon was awarded 1st Place in Class AAAA in Semi-Finals and won awards for Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect. In finals the Avon band tied the visual caption with Marian Catholic HS (IL), tied the general effect award with LD Bell HS (TX), and was named National Champion! Congratulations to ALL finalist bands for putting on one of the most talented evenings in Bands of America history!
