On Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, 2024, our Avon Marching Black and Gold finished their historical season by performing in the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Our students had an absolute blast exploring the sights of New York City and getting to perform in the parade’s 98th edition. The Avon Marching Black and Gold performed along with 10 other bands including The Carolina Band of the University of South Carolina, the East Tennessee State University Marching Buccaneers, the Flower Mound High School Marching Band, The Lake Hamilton High School Marching Band, the Macy’s Great American Marching Band, The Majestic Marching Cardinals of Jonesboro High School, the New York City Police Department Marching Band, The Pride of West Virginia, the Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Marching Band, and The University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band.
For many of our students, it was their first time ever visiting New York City and it was a trip that they will never forget!
