Who We Are

The Avon Saxophone Ensemble is a chamber ensemble that gives saxophone students an opportunity to explore music composed or arranged specifically for an ensemble of saxophones.

Details

To be a part of the Avon Saxophone Ensemble, students are required to be simultaneously enrolled in one of the Concert Bands. The Saxophone Ensemble meets during the school day during the first semester as a part of the instrumental education curriculum. There are no auditions, and anyone is allowed to participate (with prior approval of Mr. Hartman). The Saxophone Ensemble performs a large concert each spring. Featured Guest Soloists who have appeared with the Avon Saxophone Ensemble include Dr. Anna Marie Wytko from Kansas State University, Dr. Otis Murphy from Indiana University, and Dr. Kenneth Tse from the University of Iowa.

  • Consistent Gold Ratings at ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble Contest (2002-2020, 2022)
